New research findings suggest the adjustment process for many new immigrant families with young children increases toxic stress and vulnerability among all family members. The Baby TALK model’s approach to engaging families in a manner that is culturally-respectful and sensitive to the immigration process will be examined using newly arrived refugee populations resettled in Chicago. Outcomes and implication for practice with refugee groups will be explored.
