Kindermusik Village

Ages: Newborn to 1 1/2 years (lap babies, crawlers, walkers)
Class Length: 45 minutes per class in eight week units
Parent/Caregiver Involvement: attends entire class, participating actively

Description: For lap babies, crawlers, and walkers each working at their own unique pace, Kindermusik Village opens the door to your relationship with your baby through music. Each week we will sing, touch and play with Baby, and move to stimulate both vestibular (ear and balance) and visceral (gut and heart) development. You will also receive informational "Foundations of Learning" as part of the class experience as well as on cards to take home.

Primary Goals:

• Provide a warm introduction to music
• Involve family in music making
• Nurture bonding between and child and parent
• Acknowledgment of each young child's unique responses and developmental timetable
• Participation in a music-making community

Home Materials:

• CD with songs from class and more
• Home journal with activity cards and song cards
• Picture book
• Art banners

Kindermusik Our Time

Can you sound like an elephant? Or hop like a bunny? Our Time encourages your child to uncover an engaging musical world while building confidence, self-control and communications skills. Singing, imitating sounds, rhyming and object identification foster language skills. Creative movement to various musical “moods” develops a sense of balance, timing and spatial awareness. Listening and turn-taking encourage blossoming social skills.

Kindermusik Our Time is designed for children 1½ years to 3 years of age. Along with an accompanying parent or caregiver, children meet weekly for a 45-minute class and enjoy singing, moving, listening and interacting socially, and playing simple instruments. Exploration Time encourages a child's discovery of specially designed instruments, textures, sounds and movements; language skills are fostered with singing, sound imitation, and vocal play; Music & Movement Story Time encourages emergent literacy skills; and creative dancing affirms a child's urge to move.

Kindermusik is much more than a weekly class. And your At Home materials you receive from your educator are just the tools you need to continue that one-of-a-kind experience together as a family. While we plant the seeds of learning through music in the classroom, you will use the At Home materials at home to cultivate lifelong learning.

Family involvement in your child's learning is a fundamental cornerstone of the Kindermusik philosophy because we believe the parent is the child’s most important teacher and the home is the most important place for a child’s learning to take root and grow.
