Meet the Teacher - Shirley Brooks

Shirley Brooks teaches Kindermusik classes for Baby TALK. Shirley has years of experience interacting with children--her most extensive as the mother of three (2 boys and 1 girl). She currently teaches Sunday School classes for 2 to 5 year olds at Central Christian Church, and previously developed and led "Makin' Music" classes for 1 to 4 year olds at Baby TALK.

Shirley has a B.A. degree in elementary education from Purdue University and has been involved with music all of her life. Besides a long history of singing and writing songs, she plays the piano, guitar and clarinet. She says music has been an integral part of her own parenting experience and she hopes to share that joy and value with other parents and children.

During the summer of 1998, Shirley completed training in Indianapolis to teach Kindermusik and is now a licensed Kindermusik I educator. She values the research and expertise that went into developing the Kindermusik curriculum (which was developed by a team of early childhood education specialists), and looks forward to sharing Kindermusik with others.
